Dale McDowell's Dream Becomes Reality, Claims First Driver of the Week Award

Dale McDowell continues his season of dominance with $100,000 "Dream"

You could almost say that we saw this one coming...in our last edition McDowell received an "Honorable Mention". Hell who knows, maybe that was the reason he was so determined to win our "Driver of the Week" award this time around. Georgia native Dale McDowell has had his no. 17m machine on a rail all season long. After beginning the season as a consistent front runner, McDowell's continued work helped him find victory lane multiple times over the last couple of months and it culminated Saturday night when he won the richest dirt late model race of the season. The Chickamagua, Georgia driver stormed from the 22nd starting spot, past the likes of hall-of-famers Scott Bloomquist and Billy Moyer, and a multitude of other first-class drivers to win the 100 lapper.
**Note: McDowell also won one of the $5,000 to win twin preliminaries Friday at Eldora.

Tim McCreadie:
Dating back to our last edition that came two weeks ago, there is no doubt that Tim McCreadie deserves an "atta boy" for his performances during the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek. This year's edition of the speedweek featured just four races, and McCreadie left those with a 50% win ratio and the points championship.



Mark Keegan:
Lest we forget the drivers that shaped our sport into that spectacle that we've come to know it as. Legendary Ohio driver Mark Keegan climbed back behind the wheel of a 305 cubic inch sprint car this past weekend at Fremont (OH) Speedway to compete in the first ever Legends Race. After entering as one of the favorites to win, Keegan returned to his winning ways and parked it in victory lane. Other greats that participated include Kenny Jacobs and Rodney Duncan.




Ronnie Johnson:

And our first crate late model driver to sneak onto the "Driver of the Week" posts goes out to Ronnie Johnson. We credit Johnson with an Honorable Mention because he swept the weekend with Nesmith Racing, scoring $2,000 and $4,000 wins. Nevermind the fact that one of the wins came after the DQ of another driver, chances are he never would have been up there if he hadn't been prepping his tires.
