The 2018 Pennsylvania Super Late Model Power Rankings: Week 9

Hey there race fans, it's time for this weeke's update to the rankings. I know, I know, It's Tuesday, which makes it a day later than the update usually drops, but let's be serious here, yesterday was a holiday, and most of you were out doing stuff or cooking out or something and these rankings weren't going to be high on your priority list for things to do. So I figured I'd delay it a day because now that everybody is back to the daily grind, some words about the goings on of super late model racing in Pennsylvania will be a way to escape for a few minutes during these stiflingly hot days we're currently having.

This week didn't look particularly good for racing weather wise, but it ended up being a fine weekend for racing, and just about everybody got their show in, even with rain in the area. Hummingbird rained out Saturday night, and were the only track to lose a show. Dog Hollow originally lost their show Sunday night, but with the holiday the next day, they rescheduled for last night and got their show in the books.

Being a holiday weekend, many of the shows were special shows. Bedford ran for 3k Friday, Port Royal ran for 3k Saturday and 5k Sunday, and Dog Hollow ran for 4k last night. All of those shows were scored on raised points scales, so a lot of points were scored.

That said, here's the top ten for this week.

1. Jeff Rine****, 56 points. Jeff got the win at Bedford Friday, and had finishes of fourth and and second at Port Royal Saturday and Sunday.

2. Max Blair**, 28 points. Max ran third at Eriez Sunday and got the win last night at Dog Hollow.

3. Dylan Yoder**, 26 points. Dylan came home fourth at Bedford Friday, and ran third Saturday at Port Royal.

4. Michael Norris***, 21 points. Michael won Friday night at Lernerville.

5. Jared Miley**, 20 points. Jared failed to score any points this week.

5. Andy Haus*, 20 points. Andy also took an 0fer this weekend.

7. Mike Maresca*, 18 points. Mike also went scoreless this week.

8. Gene Knaub, 17 points. Gene got a second at Selinsgrove Saturday.

9. Rick Eckert**, 15 points. Rick swept the weekend at Port Royal.

10. Jason Covert*, 13 points. Jason came home second at Bedford Friday.

10. Alex Ferree, 13 points. Alex had a scoreless weekend.

And that's the top ten for this week.

An interesting note for this week is that the world's best sprint car driver, Donny Schatz, managed to score points on these super late model rankings. I mean, I know he got into a late model a couple years back and was pretty competitive right off the bat, but still, I'd never have thought he'd actually run it here in Pennsylvania. It's pretty cool to me that he had his dad tow the late model all the way out to central PA to run it on a weekend that saw his primary series, the WoO sprint car series have a couple open dates.

Check back next Monday for the updated rankings after this week's action.
