The 46th Annual Freedom 76er is set for Saturday September 10th at Grandview Speedway, and the names will all be there. VonDohren, Manmiller, Howard, Strunk, Howard, Pauch, the usual suspects and the cream of the south Jersey dirt crop, that always seem to show up in the top five or victory lane.
However, looking to break up the logjam at the podium and in the winner's circle are three drivers who could be primed to take their first ever championship. Ryan Watt, Ryan Godown and Billy Pauch Jr will look to be in the hunt, and some of them have been very close to pulling it off in recent history.

Luck plays a factor in the $25,000 to win race, with a unique drawing format that could see some big names near the back of the pack. They've got 76 laps to get it to the front, and that's just part of what makes it such an amazing and entertaining event. Most fans have seen charges through the field before on many occasions, but unless you've been there, you haven't seen it done Grandview style. That is to say, complete with hip checks, chrome horns, less than clean sliders and just plain hard racing, all within the same lap....for 76 laps.
That's what the race is about, more than just survival, but finding a way to get to the front while keeping your car in healthy condition enough to stay there in the end.
For Watt, Gowdown and Pauch Jr, it is a prime opportunity to join the legendary winner's list and etch their name into north east modified racing history. And, each of them are riding one type of momentum or another into Saturday night as each have had regular seasons to be proud of with each of them winding up in the top 10 in final points in Short Track Super Series Competition. And, while Watt took home the honors in the Bridgeport Speedway modified championship, Godown and Pauch Jr went down to the wire in the New Egypt finale with Godown edging Pauch Jr for the track championship by one mere point.
The action on the track should be amazing with heats, a $1,000 to win dash, and a 20 lap non qualifiers race, plus features a unique atmosphere in the pits and parking areas to complement the on track festivities. If you're in the area, you already know not to miss this one, and if you're in our neck of the woods, you may just want to head on out, you won't be sorry.
