Top 25 National Sprint Car Poll - Week 9

Rico Abreu took a break from his asphalt schedule to claim
three podium finishes at Eldora's Kings Royal weekend.

The 33rd Annual Kings Royal and 25th Annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup are in the rear view mirror as we head into the latter stages of summer. Next up on the card of huge events is the highly-anticipated Summer Nationals for the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA. A heavy dose of drivers currently in the Top 25 will be in attendance, and chances are one of them will be in victory lane on Saturday night.

Rico Abreu ran with the World of Outlaws for a second consecutive weekend, and as the seat time builds up he continues to find speed. Abreu's talent was on showcase at the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH where the young wheelman recorded 3rd place finishes in both preliminary nights before finishing runner-up in the finale. His efforts are reflected in our poll as he's the biggest mover of the week, advancing eleven positions from No. 18 to No. 7.

Just as we have the hard charger, someone has got to be the biggest loser as well. The lowly nomination goes to Pittsburgh, PA's Danny Holtgraver who dropped ten spots in the rankings. This comes just one week after Holtgraver earned the hard charger award.

Surprise, surprise. #DamnYouDonny Schatz is still atop our Top 25 rankings following stellar performances at Attica Raceway Park, Eldora Speedway, and Lernerville Speedway. The remainder of the Top 5 is filled out by David Gravel, Daryn Pittman, Greg Hodnett and Shane Stewart.

Three drivers made the jump up into our Top 25 sprint car poll. California's Kyle Hirst (21) and Oklahoma's Stevie Smith (23) both moved into the rankings. Hirst looked impressive in winning a King of the West Sprint Series show at Ocean Speedway while Stevie Smith captured the runner-up spot at Williams Grove's Outlaw Tune-up. Dropping out of the Top 25 was Alan Krimes and Dusty Zomer.

Our panel of voting members for Week 9 included the following:
