Danny Holtgraver continued his hot streak with the All Stars and improved 10 spots in this week's poll. |
Sprint car fans across the country were able to enjoy another mostly dry weekend after weathering through a seemingly wet spring. The majority of the scheduled 'winged 410' races got in as scheduled. The casualties were Williams Grove Speedway, Skyline Speedway, and Devil's Lake Speedway.
All Star Circuit of Champions regular Danny Holtgraver was the man on the move in this week's poll moving up ten spots to No. 14. Coming off of a pair of Top 5 runs with the series in Michigan, the Pittsburgh, PA native piloted the Pete Grove owned no. 70 machine to a $10,000 payday in Sharon Speedway's Lou Blaney Memorial. The monster paycheck is the biggest of Holtgraver's career since winning the King of the 360's race at East Bay Raceway Park a few years ago.
Not far behind Holtgraver was the Grand Forks, ND-based Mark Dobmeier. Although it's not known as a hot bed for sprint car racing, Dobmeier has excelled in the sport. He has won most of the races at River Cities, this past week included, and he just notched his 2nd win of the season at Badlands Motor Speedway. His results over the weekend were good enough to move him up eight spots where he now occupies No. 13 in our Top 25 poll.
As we're accustomed to seeing, the World of Outlaws points leader Donny Schatz maintained his stranglehold on the top spot in the poll for the 8th consecutive week, and he captured every first place vote in the process. The remainder of the Top 5 is filled out by David Gravel, Shane Stewart, Greg Hodnett, and Daryn Pittman.
Three drivers made the jump up into our Top 25 sprint car poll. Pennsylvania's Brent Marks (20), Alan Krimes (21), and Logan Schuchart (25) all move into the rankings. Marks and Schuchart make their return into the poll, while Krimes makes his debut. Dropping out of the Top 25 was Sammy Swindell, Kyle Larson and Stevie Smith. None of them made an appearance on a dirt track this past weekend.
With the rejuvenated Kings Royal weekend at Eldora Speedway upon us, look for these rankings to be a good indicator of who's hot, who's not, and which drivers you can expect to see running towards the front of the pack.
