Lincoln Icebreaker:

Greg Hodnett picked up right where he left off in Florida and cruised to victory Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Speedway in the annual Icebreaker, season opening event for the central PA sprint car region. Hodnett was never seriously challenged in a race that featured a great deal of carnage, a fuel stop, and a furious 21 lap shootout interrupted by a late spin from Ohio invader Cole Duncan for his second consecutive Icebreaker victory. Hodnett revealed in victory lane, "With winning the TDN North East Sprint Car Championship last year, I knew there would be a lot of added pressure this year and I wanted to make sure I lived up to the hype, I also wanted to throw everybody here a nice Tennessee ass beating too, which I did!"

Sweet and Pittman Mess With Texas; Time Trials Cancelled-Fans Thrilled Saturday

Brad Sweet and Daryn Pittman messed with Texas, and with each other this weekend in World of Outlaw action at Cotton Bowl Speedway on Friday night and Royal Purple Raceway on Saturday. The Kasey Kahne Racing teammates split the weekend as Sweet edged Pittman on the last lap on Friday night to collect the victory while Pittman held off a furious charge from Donny Schatz to end his early season string of heartbreaking finishes.

On Saturday, in a bizarre twist, time trials were cancelled due to technical difficulties and also due to the fact that not one person in attendance remembered to bring a stopwatch with them in case such an occurrence took place. For a brief period of time, nobody knew what would happen next. But the powers that be actually made a decision to line cars up according to the draw as happens in most of the dirt racing world on a weekly bases, even at some places that normally run sprints, and to the astonishment of all, great racing occurred and the fans were thrilled!

Upon learning of the KKR sweep, Kahne informed both Pittman and Sweet that he'd be taking them both out for ice cream.
