Kevin Ward Jr Killed at Canandaigua Motorsports Park

As most of you know by now, 360 Sprint Car driver Kevin Ward Jr. was tragically killed last night at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, Central Square, NY.

During the feature race Ward's car made contact with Tony Stewart causing an Ward's car to hit the wall and come to a stop.  Ward exited his car to confront Stewart on the next caution lap. The right rear of Stewart's car struck Ward fatally injuring him.
Dustin Long, MRN.COM -- The Ontario County (N.Y.) Sheriff confirmed that Tony Stewart’s sprint car struck and killed another driver during a race Saturday night at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

The officer did not identify the victim, but a YouTube video of the incident showed Stewart’s car striking 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr.

Stewart’s spokesman Mike Arning stated early Sunday morning: “A tragic accident took place (Saturday) night during a sprint car race in which Tony Stewart was participating. Stewart was unhurt, but a fellow competitor lost his life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. We’re still attempting to sort through all the details, and we appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.’’

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ward Family. We will pass along as much information as we can regarding any way the dirt racing community can assist the family in their time of need as soon as we can.
