On the front row leading the field to the green flag on Saturday night will be Donny's receding hairline (a.k.a. Todd Nunes....a.k.a. @metalc0wb0y) and Lernerville 410 sprint regular Darren Pifer (@Pifer23).
Nunes, who sits atop the standings with a "commanding" 2-pt. lead over Pifer, has collected 223 points through preliminary action thanks to his driver selections of Brad Sweet (54 pts), Donny Schatz (48 pts), Carson Macedo (50 pts), Ian Madsen (45 pts) and Sam Hafertepe, Jr (26 pts). Will those drivers have enough in the tank to pull through for Nunes on Saturday and help him claim the $200 top prize?
Pifer, as we mentioned, can easily overcome the deficit and overtake him for the top spot. He was able to amass 221 points over the course of the Thursday/Friday action thanks to his driver group of Brad Sweet (54 pts), Donny Schatz (48 pts), Carson Macedo (50 pts), Chad Kemenah (51 pts) and Lynton Jeffrey (18 pts).
A gaggle of contestants sit within reach of the top pairing with one night of scoring remaining. Jeff Boyum (@Jeffbodeen), Al Currie (@Currie5787) and Al (@vdonk37) sit in a three-way tie for third place with 220 points apiece.
Reminder: Friday's "Hard Knox" portion of the Knoxville Nationals is not scored in our Pick'Em contest. Drivers can only add to their current point totals through a finish in either the A-Main or B-Main on Saturday night.
We'll have our final results posted sometime Sunday (as early as possible). One of us may be partaking in a softball tournament this weekend...so scoring/posting will have to work around that.
