Henry's Perseverance Paying Off In Four Race Win Streak

Going back to back in the win department in 410 Sprint world in this day and time is an accomplishment. Three straight victories is amazing. Four in a row is not impossible, Craig Mintz rattled off four straight feature wins at Fremont Speedway earlier this season.  However, in the highly competitive Ohio based FAST 410 Sprint Car scene where at least 10-12 drivers have a decent chance to win race in and race out, four wins in a row at three different tracks is another story.

Cap Henry's feature win at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, August 18 sealed up four straight FAST wins and his streak shows no signs of slowing down as the regular season winds down, pointing to what could be a strong post season of special event finishes.  It's been a streak for Henry that has been due for some time and has now come to fruition.

The impressive run started on July, 28 and continued on August, 4 as Henry managed back to back victories at Fremont Speedway. Henry passed Rob Chaney with three laps to go on the 28th after failing to make the show the night before. Then a week later, Henry led all 30 laps in convincing fashion to make it back to back feature wins. But the best was yet to come as on August 11th, Henry took the lead near the halfway mark and then held off Cale Conley and a hard charging performance from Danny Dietrich to score a $20,000 payday in FAST action at Mansfield Motor Speedway.

Henry's win at Sharon was for less of a payday, but earned against a stout field that included a red hot Sye Lynch and George Hobaugh who had recently had their confidence lifted by wins at Sharon and Lernerville respectively in recent weeks, and held off an oncoming Dale Blaney to preserve the $3,000 win.

It was a rough start to the year as his finishes early on were not what he would have liked following a 2017 season that saw him driving for a stint in the familiar Blazin Racin' Buffalo Wild Wings #82 entry. ""I think we kind of figured something out here," Henry said recently.  "One thing I learned driving that 82 car last year was I have to be mentally strong."

Henry's perseverance is currently paying off now and if winning truly breeds confidence, then Henry can expect to have all eyes on him going into and throughout the post season slate of big money shows, and perhaps beyond into the off season.  Four straight wins on three tracks against stout competition will do that for a driver in regards to having attention thrust upon them. Henry's spirit, passion for racing and resiliency may take that attention and turn it into a higher level of attention in 2019.
