Welcome back for another year of ranking the best sprint car drivers in the Northeast. Following a successful inaugural campaign in 2015, our unique points system returns for a second season.
Here is a recap of last season's championship results:
http://thedirtnetwork.blogspot.com/2015/11/northeast-sprint-car-championsip.html
For those unfamiliar with our system, here are a few of the basic principles:
- Feature finishes are the only way to accrue points
- Tiered scoring system based on car count
- 23 or less cars: 1st(3), 2nd(2), 3rd(1)
- 24-32 cars: 1st(4), 2nd(3), 3rd(2), 4th(1)
- 33 or more cars: 1st(5), 2nd(4), 3rd(3), 4th(2), 5th(1)
- Points began on April 1 and end on October 31
- All '410' Sprint Car races at Northeastern tracks count towards the championship
- A full schedule of counting races can be found here
You'll notice that we are 2 weekends into the new championship season already. Only 4 of the possible 15 races have been ran, with the remaining 11 falling victim to rain, snow, or wet conditions.
With only 4 races counting towards points, 13 drivers have already registered at least one point, and we currently have a four-way tie atop the standings.
Scheduled Races for the Coming Weekend
Friday, April 15 - Attica, Lernerville, & Williams Grove
Saturday, April 16 - Atomic, Fremont, Lincoln, Mercer, Port Royal, & Wayne County
Sunday, April 17 - Bedford
