Abreu's First WoO Win Earns Him Driver of the Week Award

Rico Abreu's strong season already includes 4 wins in sprint car action

Rico Abreu notched his first career win with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series last night as he dominated the feature at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., making him the deserving recipient of this week's TDN Driver of the Week Award. Abreu, who ran a remarkable race from his 3rd starting spot, passed Terry McCarl for the lead on lap 8 with an aggressive slide job in turns 1 & 2 and continued on to lead the remainder of the 35-lap event for the win.

The Saint Helena, CA. driver was also impressive on night one of the WoO at Tulare double-header when he climbed 9 positions during the feature to post an 11th place finish. Rico and crew-chief Paul Silva have clearly figured something out and will be a deadly force at every track that they make an appearance at.

Honorable Mentions:

Logan Schuchart receives the first honorable mention for this edition of our Driver of the Week award after his impressive runs at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. the past two nights with the WoO Sprints, including a runner-up finish on night two. The young driver from Hanover, PA is in his maiden voyage with the World of Outlaws and needed these runs to overcome a rough start to his 2014 campaign.

Adam Wilt also receives an honorable mention for his bold win yesterday at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA. Wilt has now won the $3,500 season opening Icebreaker 30 two of the past three seasons. What makes this win so impressive is that it was his first race under well-respected crew chief Lee Stauffer. This could be a sign of big things to come from Adam Wilt and his Wide Open Motorsports team.
